Making a Memory

(Lil gestures for your kids, that will set special traditions or memories for life)

When I picked up Ryder from school today I realized he has some homework to do. And my first thought is well we need to get home and he needs to get working on it right now...and than i kinda thought about it.  Now i am a Mom of only one and maybe this is just me so you may or may not agree with this....but i thought, the kid has been in school all day, and I am gonna rush home so he could do more school work.  NOT!!  So i decided to make coming home fun, So he knows he is not going to come right home and jump right back into school work...We came home had a snack played a bit, played some games and just had some good 1 hour  bonding time...What i am learning very quickly is that he is getting older really quickly!!!!  An hour  of just full on me and him is nothing...now some of you have more than one, so pick a kid a day, or a week and make that child have that time with you right after school, just to be with them.   In todays world, our kids just need our time, lets give it to them, other things can wait and i am quickly learning that....

Create a tradition with you kids...In my family, I try very hard to feed my boy healthy things, I don't always do it, but i try...one thing is, I buy healthy cereal and he has that everyday before school...Well when we are about to go on a vacation and we are not bringing our Motorhome, the week before we go, I buy him a sugary cereal, whats it going to hurt to allow him a sweet thing for a week.  Whats the fun in that, well we are so excited we are going on vacation and it kinda sets up for some fun, i let him pick out his own sugar cereal and we call it "Vacation Cereal"  so we know when we are having that, we are either on vacation (in our motohome) or we are going on vacation...just add a bit of fun and when he grows up, he will always remember that he had to eat boring ol healthy cereal, but just before vacations  he got sweet cereal...Memories are so fun, make them!!!! (As little as it is, it is still a memory he will never forget)

Pray with your Kids, before they start school

My Son just started school this year, and i have to say, that first day of school was soo very hard on me.  I cried and cried the night before because i could not imagine my days with without him home...(funny that it is harder on the parents than the kids huh?  who's the kid here??)  Anyway, I remember praying that night for my son and hoping that he would love school and that he would make lots of friends, and than i prayed for myself that i could get through this. Than it hit me....to make sure I prayed with him when i dropped him off at school.  So I started from day one, before he gets out of my car, we Pray together, just that he has a great day, and that he has fun and that God is with him through out his day.  Lets face it, kids can have a bad day at school, just like we can have a bad day at work..Now my son loves it, and if it slips my mind, he says "Mom, we need to pray ok?"  I am thankful for my son and I am thankful to be able to have this time with him and I hope it sets a learning for him to Bring God where ever he is..

When i was in school, my mom would go to the dollar store and just pick up a lil trinket and place it at the end of my bed, so when I got home from school, it would be there. Now, she didn't do this everyday, maybe once a month or even less, but the point was, I, even as a lil kid, knew that my mom, thought of me that given day and it meant a lot to me.
